Plastic straws are one of the main ocean plastic polluters, help us change that! The goal of "No Straw November" is to bring awareness to the many plastic straws that are being used once and then thrown away in a single month. Jr Ocean Guardians challenges you to refuse plastic straws the whole month of November and to keep a tally of how many straws you eliminated from potentially ending up in the ocean. Please share this challenge with others and use the hashtag #NoStrawNovember. And, don't forget to send us your photos to share with others what you are doing for #NoStrawNovember!
We understand that plastic straws are medically vital to some. At Jr Ocean Guardians we do not condone shaming of those who rely on straws.

2018 No Straw November Patch Information
This year, we are pleased to be donating a portion of the 2018 No Straw November patch donations to the Piedras Blancas Friends of the Elephant Seal organization which is dedicated to educating people about elephant seals and other marine life, as well as teaching stewardship for ocean off the Central Coast of California. If you have a chance to visit this amazing site, you will see and hear the northern elephant seals. These remarkable elephant seals spend 8 to 10 months per year in the open ocean and migrate thousands of miles twice a year back to Piedras Blancas for birthing, breeding, molting, and rest. You will be front and center to the Friends of the Elephant Seal's amazing onshore viewing access to the elephant seals. This is one of my favorite places to visit truly a gem and it is completely free to the public and has amazing boardwalks for all to enjoy with full handicap access.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the inaugural No Straw November 2017! To-date, we have received over 9,000 online pledges and recorded over 21,000 single-use plastic straws offered and almost 20,000 single-use plastic straws refused during the month of November. We have received many emails from people saying they are continuing to practice the pledge by refusing single-use plastic straws. Jr Ocean Guardians applaud everyone for making waves! WE ARE ALL #CHANGEMAKERS!
Many thanks to the No Straw November patch donors. A donation of $2,050 has been made to the San Jacinto Girl Scout Council to help provide much-needed aide from Hurricane Harvey.
