On Saturday night, April 28th, Ocean Elders, ACTAI Global, and Lonely Whale hosted the Making Waves Ocean Gala which benefited our oceans, it was a great evening.
I had the honor of speaking in front of a room filled with ocean advocates. Dr. Jane Goodall had an inspiring virtual message and I gave a speech immediately following the legend Dr. Sylvia Earle. My video introduction was from James Cameron! I retold my single-use plastic journey for the past 371 days and how one person can make a difference. I challenge you all to make small changes to make big waves!
The evening also included Gigi Brisson, Bill Tai, Adrian Grenier and Dune Ives. All spoke passionately about the future of our oceans.
We were also in for a huge treat with a special musical performance by Bob Weir. It was so cool and then it went up a notch when Jackson Browne joined Bob for a song. UNBELIEVABLE!
Shannon O'Leary Joy and Jeff Orlowski paid tribute to Rob Stewart. Rob was a Canadian filmmaker and marine biologist who is best known for his environmental documentary 2007 Sharkwater. He passed away last year at the age of 37 while working on Sharkwater: Extinction. The movie continued to be filmed as a tribute to Rob and will be in theaters this year.
The evening also included both silent and live auctions to raise money to support the ocean and help restore it to a healthy ecosystem.
Thank you to my special table guests. You all made me feel so welcome, I had a fun time getting to know you all!
